About the Program:
The Mentor/Mentee Program was created to link our veteran members experiences with incoming members endless possibilities for future success. Mentors will share career advice, insight on opportunities after college and plenty more. Students will build networks, learn from experiences and ultimately develop skills to become better professionals and leaders in their own right.
The role of the mentor is to provide help and guidance to their Mentee(s) in areas such as resume building, networking skills, interview practice behavior, business etiquette and general career advice. The Mentors will be required to abide by the minimum set of guidelines set by the Vice President of Accounting throughout the semester. Mentors will be given 15 points toward convention, but those who are willing to go above and beyond what is expected of them will be recognized and rewarded with extra points.
As a Mentee, you will be paired with a Mentor for the whole semester that will help you and guide you in areas such as resume building, networking skills, interview practice behavior, business etiquette and general career advice. Remember, this is a relationship between the mentor and the mentee with the VP of Accounting as the middleman, so it is the mentee’s job to put as much work as the mentor to make it work. Consider this a great opportunity to gain career advice.
Practice frequent and open communication with a trusted individual.
“The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.”
